Dear Staff and Families:
Next week, on Monday, November 2, 2026, our school will conduct a lockdown drill. We practice this drill twice each year so that students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and safely in an emergency.
Our procedures follow the Standard Response Protocol created by the iloveuguys.org which provides common language and clear, simple actions for school emergencies.
Once the drill is announced, it follows the Lockdown procedure of 'Locks, Lights, Out of Sight. Staff will lock interior doors, turn off lights, and move students out of the line of sight from any corridor windows; then maintain silence and wait for the all-clear by the principal. There are no noises to mimic gunfire, and no pretend assailants or victims. The focus is on practicing clear steps, not simulating an event.
Should you have any questions or wish to opt your child out of this exercise, please contact Mr. Sutton.
Sincerely,
Lee Sutton
Principal
Ridgely Elementary School

💛 We had the sweetest surprise today! A few of our young ladies decided to show their love for our Assistant Principal, Ms. Walker, by dressing just like her! Their thoughtful and fun gesture brought smiles and reminded us how much the little moments of connection mean in our school community. We love seeing the positive relationships and admiration our students have for the adults who support and encourage them each day!
And as we continue celebrating National Principals Month, we want to take a moment to recognize and express our sincere appreciation to Principal Sutton. Thank you for your leadership, commitment, and the care you pour into our school community. Your dedication makes a difference, and we are grateful for all you do!
Today was a beautiful reminder that leadership leaves an impression, relationships matter, and the love and appreciation we share make our school special. ❤️

Today Mrs. Frantum’s 3rd Grade class learned that the tiles in the hallway are each 1 square foot. We found the area of several rectangles by measuring square feet.
