Caroline County BackPack Program
We are happy to inform you that Ridgely Elementary School is now part of a program called “Caroline’ Helping Hands (CHH)” offered through the Maryland Food Bank-Eastern Shore. If you choose to enroll your child, he/she will receive a bag/box of food items to help supplement weekend meals. The delivery days of the “BackPack” is typically Friday, but may vary and are dependent on availability. This program is absolutely FREE, there is no cost to you or your family.
If you wish to enroll, please call the school and request an application. If you have any questions, call Anna Buffenmyer or Faith Christ at 410-479-3243.
Alcohol-based Hand Sanitizers
Due to an incident at one of the elementary schools, alcohol-based hand sanitizers were removed from schools. We continue to make other sanitizer available to students and staff and encourage their use, along with regular hand washing with soap and water. We also continue to maintain the same level of cleanliness in the schools as has always been required, using products provided by the CCPS Maintenance Department.
Show your child how much kindness happens around him/her everyday – he/she will see ways he/she can be kind too. Make a label to stick on a clean, empty jar. It might say “Be Kind” or “We’re a kind family.” Place the jar in an easy-to-reach location along with slips of colored paper and a pen. Now tell everyone in the family to add a note to the jar when the “catch” someone being kind. For instance, “Dad made soup for me because I didn’t feel well. Or Jeremy cleaned up the dog’s muddy paws so Mom did not have to do it.” Once a week, read the slips aloud and celebrate kindness. Then, start a new batch.
